Just a bit of everything. Not a blog but cool pictures nonetheless, giving you an idea of who we are and what we have done so far.

Cupping

Coffee being a seasonal produce and frankly quite hard to roast consistently, we tend to cup coffee regularly. We are using our Kaffelogic benchtop roaster, made in Dunedin. A state of the art air roaster which helped us so much to understand the craft.

We're seriously considering adding the machine to our store so people can enjoy roasting from their homes.

Geraldine Espresso Martini

A delicious cocktail we crafted using Geraldine own Humdinger Gin and our decaf Excelso. Gets you where you want to be without the caffeine rush. The recipe is as follows:

  • Double shot of Southbound Excelso decaf espresso
  • Shot of Humdinger dry gin
  • Shot of Amaretto
  • 1/2 shot of simple syrup (or in our case a cinnamon and vanilla syrup that we made)
  • Plenty of ice cubes

Shake it like you mean it and serve!

Giving as much as we receive

To us coffee is part of our everyday life. Because we are coffee roasters, we obviously will never run out of coffee (well... never say never).

But sometimes, life gets in the way and it's important to us to donate coffee to the Geraldine Foodbank to help those in need.

We are hoping you could do the same! Simply give these superstar ladies a call here.

Geraldine Big Breakfast

Our town is packed with small artisans. So, we decided to create a Christmas hamper in 2022 and showcased the Made in Geraldine products in various ways. The Geraldine Breakfast pack contained the following:

  •  A 250g pouch of Southbound coffee
  • Streaky Bacon and Breakfast Sausages from the Geraldine Butchery
  • Free range eggs from Geraldine Eggs
  • Halloumi from the Geraldine Cheese Company
  • A jar of Honey from Waihi Gorge Honey
  • A jar of Dukkah from Harvest Greens

It was scrumptious and we encourage everyone to go check them out.

Behind the scenes!

All the pictures (apart from 1) on this page have been taken by only one person.

It does take considerable time and effort - more than we initially thought! - to come up with the right ideas and bring them to fruition.

I am lucky enough to have Zane by my side at all times, Her support, dedication and skills are an invaluable asset to our business.
